About Reasonable Golf Starter
Reasonable Golf Starter is a hobby project by Jonathan Park, a data-driven golf dad in Auckland, New Zealand.
The Problem
As a parent looking to get my kids started in golf, I found the equipment sizing world overwhelming. Different brands, conflicting advice, and no clear starting point for what actually matters when choosing junior golf clubs.
The Solution
This tool provides a reasonable starting point based on U.S. Kids Golf sizing standards and age-appropriate recommendations. It's not about telling you exactly what to buy — it's about giving you context before you walk into a pro shop or browse online.
Technical Details
Built with Next.js 15, React 19, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. The entire assessment runs client-side with zero server-side data collection, ensuring your privacy while providing instant recommendations.
Philosophy
Golf should be accessible and fun for kids. The right equipment helps, but it doesn't need to be complicated or expensive to get started. This tool helps parents make informed, reasonable decisions without the marketing noise.
